Joan Jonas, living legend legend


Counting the sleeps!!. I fly out next Friday and I have only four days in Sydney and so I will need all my planning skills and a comfy pair of shoes to make the most of it. Have already booked in for a performance by Joan Jonas:
"A founding figure of video and performance art, Joan Jonas was originally a sculptor who began to participate in experimental dance workshops. She held her first performance in 1968. Since then, Jonas has explored the transformation of the performing body through perception, space and media, by using masks and mirrors, as well as different mythological and contemporary persona. Reading Dante is inspired by Dante’s early-fourteenth- century Divine Comedy, incorporating elements from ‘Inferno’ and ‘Paradiso’. Jonas is premiering this new work in two performances for the Sydney Biennale."
